Hawks in with a chance

Andy Morris sees the Hawks as stealing a win this weekend against the Pies.

The Magpies will rest some of their key players to prevent injury and potentially play without pressure, which potentially makes the Hawks dangerous.

Collingwood leads in the standings with 70 points, 17 wins, 3 losses and one draw.

Considering their slump earlier in the season, the Hawks aren't doing so badly either in 7th place with 46 points, 11 wins, 9 losses and one draw.

The Hawks have beaten the Magpies in four out of their last five games, which is surprising. The one loss was this season when Collingwood blasted Hawthorn in round four by 64 points.

Last round, the Magpies were headed for a loss to Adelaide but managed to scrap out a victory.

The Hawks need this win more than Collingwood, so expect them to come out aggressive and determined even with the hole left by their on-field general Luke Hodge.

This does not mean Saturday's game is not important to the Magpies. With a loss, they'll be headed to the elimination round with their heads down and thus need a win to keep their momentum alive. The Magpies will rest some of their key players to prevent injury and potentially play without pressure, which potentially makes the Hawks dangerous.

The key for the Hawks will be Lance Franklin.
Franklin booted five goals last round against the Dockers. In the past five matches, the best four players for the Hawks were Luke Hodge, Sam Mitchell, Chance Bateman, and Grant Birchall.

The key for the Magpies will be Scott Pendlebury.
He collected 30 disposals last round. In the past five matches, the four best players for the Magpies were Heath Shaw, Steele Sidebottom, Dane Swan, and Dayne Beams.

The Hawks are likely to play with reckless abandon in the hope of the cards falling their way with a win and thus a home final in what many expect be one of the best games of the season.
