Sarah Peatling gets fact-alicious, spilling the beans on two of the weekend's major races.

This year’s JJ Liston Stakes winner, talented Queenslander Shoot Out, aims to repeat history.

FACT: Hall of fame legend Bart Cummings has won the Memsie twice in recent years with Magical Miss (2002), ridden by Steven Arnold, and Dane Ripper (1998).

This year he is represented by Sirmione (M Zahra), So You Think (S Arnold), Brightnight (J Winks) and Faint Perfume (M Payne).

FACT: The Clinton McDonald-trained Regal Roller is the only horse to have won the JJ Liston and Memsie Stakes double (2004) since 1980.

FACT: The last mare to win the Memsie Stakes was Miss Finland in 2007.

Champion mare Typhoon Tracy, which has won three of four starts at Group level over 1400m, including the WFA C.F Orr Stakes at Caulfield in February, appears to have come back from her winter spell in great physical form and aims to emulate Miss Finland's feat. Others mares in this year's contest are Faint Perfume and Valdemoro.

FACT: The number nine saddle-cloth has been the most successful in the last 20 runnings of the Memsie Stakes, saluting four times.

This year, boom four-year-old Shoot Out carries the lucky number nine.

FACT: In the last 10 years, barrier three is the most successful in the Group 2 Memsie Stakes (1400m), providing three winners.

This year, the Tony Noonan-trained Buccellati, starts from the number three position.

FACT: Aboard Duporth (2008), Doonan (2004) and In Top Swing (2003), champion hoop Hugh Bowman has won three Golden Roses in the races seven-year history.

This year he pilots the David Payne-trained Masquerader.

FACT: Only one filly has won the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) - Forensics, in 2008.

Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily, Chance Bye, Panipique, Sasa and Gybe represent the fairer sex this year.

FACT: Barriers one and twelve have provided two winners each in the race's history.

This year, the John Thompson-trained Run for Levi and Gerald Ryan's Top Drop will jump from these respective barriers this year.
