Following a great first-up effort over the unsuitable 1200 metres at Moonee Valley, Prizum savaged the line over 1400 metres at Caulfield on Boxing Day, indicating he is ready to win.

As long as he can overcome his wide draw, Ben Asgari sees Prizum proving far too good for his rivals at the Valley on Friday.

The Malua Racing-trained Prizum can finally break through for a deserved city win in Friday night's $30,000 Simpson Constructions Handicap (1600m) at Moonee Valley.

Formerly with Greg Eurell, Prizum showed plenty of ability as a young horse and was nominated for both the Caulfield Guineas and Cox Plate as an unraced three-year-old.

Unfortunately, a range of issues have prevented the gelding from producing his best on the track.

This preparation, however, he seems to have come back better than ever as evidenced by two very impressive runs.

Following a great first-up effort over the unsuitable 1200 metres at Moonee Valley, Prizum savaged the line over 1400 metres at Caulfield on Boxing Day, indicating he is ready to win.

Scratched from Sandown on Wednesday to be saved for Friday night, Prizum now gets to his best distance range and should relish the extra two hundred metres.

Drawn in barrier eleven, champion jockey Damien Oliver may have his work cut out as there doesn't appear a great deal of speed on paper. Though it is likely Oliver will elect to settle in the second half of the field, Prizum does have the tactical speed to roll forward should the chance present itself.

Despite his strike rate reading just the two wins from twenty starts, whether it is because of maturity or soundness he has raced like a different horse at his last couple of runs.

In a pretty limited affair where his main rivals are conceding him 4.5kgs, with any sort of luck in running Prizum should prove far too strong for rivals.
