The key facts on the MAKYBE DIVA, DANEHILL & CHELMSFORD STAKES, care of Betfair's 'fact-meistress', Sarah Peatling.

This year’s top seven JJ Liston place-getters contesting the Makybe Diva include Heart of Dreams (3rd), Vigor (4th), Monaco Consul (6th) and Shocking (7th).


FACT: The best lead-up race for the Gr2 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) in the past 20 years is the Gr2 JJ Liston (1400m). Twelve JJ Liston top seven place-getters have won the Makybe Diva Stakes in the same year.

This year's top seven JJ Liston place-getters contesting the Makybe Diva include Heart of Dreams (3rd), Vigor (4th), Monaco Consul (6th) and Shocking (7th).


FACT: Jockey Damien Oliver is the most successful recent-day rider in the Makybe Diva Stakes, with wins aboard Vigor (2009), Sky Heights (1999) & Marble Halls (1997).

This year he pilots the Mick Price-trained Heart of Dreams.


FACT: Hall of Fame trainer Lee Freedman is the most successful modern-day trainer in the Makybe Diva Stakes, with wins on Marble Halls (1997), Mahogany (1994) and Mannerism (1993).

This year he is represented by winning imports Doctor Fremantle and Speed Gifted.


FACT: Only five fillies have won the Gr2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) since the first running in 1982: Black Caviar (2009), Tan Tat de Lago (2007), Dantelah (1997), Wrap Around (1990) and Gin Rhythm (1989).

The Gillian Heinrich-trained Military Rose, which has won five of six starts, including one at Group 2 level, and the Peter Moody-trained Storm Burst, represent the fairer sex in this year's contest.


FACT: In the last 20 years, Lee Freedman is the most successful trainer in the Danehill Stakes with three wins on Chong Tong (2001), Gold Ace (1995) and I love Sydney (1994).

This year he is represented by Smokin Joey, a full brother to gallant veteran galloper, Our Smoking Joe.


FACT: Number one is the most-winning saddle-cloth in the Danehill, having saluted six times in the last 20 years.

This year, 2010 Group 1 Blue Diamond winner Star Witness will carry the lucky number.


FACT: The best lead-up race for the Gr2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) in the past 20 years is the Gr2 Warwick Stakes (1400m). Ten Warwick Stakes winners have won the Chelmsford Stakes in the same year.

This year's Warwick Stakes winner, Metal Bender, aims to emulate that double.


FACT: The famous Hawkes family share the modern-day record with David Payne for training the most Chelmsford Stakes winners, which include O'Lonhro (2009) and Lonhro (2003/2004).

This year the family are represented by six-year-old gelding Rainbow Styling, which jumps from barrier eight.


FACT: Eleven Chelmsford Stakes winners have jumped from barriers seven to eleven in the last 20 years.

Those horses which have drawn outside barriers this year include Purple (7), Rainbow Styling (8) and Get Up Jude (9).
